Report Abstract [Shortened] -

Methods of travel in video games are often overlooked. Typically, the player is limited to bipedal movement through a spatially coherent world; In some cases, mechanical methods of transport may be made available to justify an increase in speed. When the act of traversing a virtual world becomes a tedious undertaking, designers may implement systems of fast travel which not only undermine the areas between two or more points but also hinder immersion by interrupting player control.

This report explores the potential usage of non-Euclidean development within video game travel, how it compares to other methods when dealing with immersion, and lastly, how we can go about achieving it from a technical standpoint.
